Circe is our resident Prairie Falcon. Circe came to ORC in 2011 from Pt. Mugu after she was caught in the turbulent air wake of a plane. Miraculously she survived but the tumble caused her to go blind in her left eye, making her non-releasable. Circe lives with Gavin.

Fun Facts:

Prairie Falcons are closely related to the Peregrine Falcon, being almost the same size with the characteristic malar stripe that both species carry under their eyes. Prairie Falcons thrive in open land, hence their name. Prairie Falcons though similar in appearance to Peregrine Falcons have different hunting methods. Prairie Falcons often swoop at low angles to catch their prey, and will also tail chase birds by flushing them out of bushes or trees.
